Fox
Talbot Museum of Photography (Lacock)
Inside a 16th Century barn, near the gates to Lacock Abbey, this
museum was opened in 1975 to commemorate William Henry Fox Talbot
of Lacock Abbey. His first camera and calotypes are on view along
with many of his International awards. The museum houses an
audio-visual presentation and changing exhibitions. The bookshop is
the most comprehensive in Wessex for books about photography.

Sally
Lunn's House and Museum
A house of charm and delight, the oldest in Bath. In the cellar
museum, excavations show the remains of Roman, Saxon and Medieval
buildings. Sally Lunn came in 1680 and worked in the kitchen/bakery
with the ancient faggot oven. Here she created the delicacy named
after her, the Sally Lunn Bun.

American Museum of Bath
Ralph Allen, one of the creators of Georgian Bath, is buried in
the churchyard. The Manor House (1820) is the home of the first
Museum of American Life to be opened in Britain. The furniture as
well as the exhibits have been brought from America and there are
especially interesting items dealing with the art of Red Indians
and the religious sect called the "Shakers".

Blaise
Castle House Museum
A late 18th Century house containing a museum of West Country
rural and urban life, together with a thatched dairy and water
mill. The picturesque grounds include the remains of an Iron Age
hill fort, as well as the mid -18th Century Gothic castle which
gave Blaise its name.

SS Great Britain
In 1970 millions of people in this country and all over the
world were fascinated and thrilled by the salvage from the Falkland
Islands of the hull of Brunel's Steam Ship 'Great Britain'. The
ship represented a vital stage in the transition from sail to
steam. Launched in 1843 she was the first ever ocean-going
propeller-driven steamship. Since July 1970 preservation and
restoration work has been steadily going forward in the dock in
which she was originally built.
